1. the express.UK citation has one good line pertinent to NMFG as distinct from MVS. It states the # of FB followers. So I lifted that sentence and rearranged the words and moved the citation lower in the feed. I feel strongly we can stand by this source though it's not the most reputable. It was being used to support the rando abbreviation TNMFG which is not a thing, so I say delete that.

2. I substituted Marshall at the MUFON symposium for the citation # 4 with TGC.

The New Message from God is a new religious movement[1] originating from Boulder CO, USA.[2] It is based on the writings of the movement's leader, Marshall Vian Summers, who claims to be the recipient of a divine communication for the human race regarding extraterrestrial life, climate change and social upheaval.[3]

History

Marshall Vian Summers, the founder of The New Message from God, was a teacher for blind children[4] until 1982 when, he says, he was "called into the desert" by "a voice" that commanded him to record a series of messages from purportedly angelic beings who told him that he was destined to convey God's message to the world[5][6]. The following year, Summers trademarked his professed discipline of "inner guidance training."[7] [8]

Summers later settled with his wife, Patricia, and their child, Reed, in Colorado, where in 1990 the pair began publishing a series of books, leading with Steps to Knowledge.[9][10]. In 1992 Summers founded The Society for the Greater Community Way of Knowledge, later operating as The Society for the New Message from God[11], a religious non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, publishing and promoting the teachings[10] and the books into which they are compiled for sale through a small publishing house offering only titles by Marshall Vian Summers.[12] Summers himself and later his son sought their audience through radio interviews[13] and conference presentations[14] over the following decades, calling for unity in the face of global instability and alien contact.[15]

By 2012 The New Message had developed a worldwide following, with members throughout North America, Asia and Europe, and was promoting itself as "a new world religion."[16] The organization began hosting annual meetings in Colorado to host students of its teachings. Presently, The New Message from God boasts substantial followings on social media, with greater than 200,000 followers on Facebook from more than 100 countries.[17] and hosts online events and a website dedicated to communication among followers.[18]

Organization and Establishments

The Society for the New Message from God is a 501(c) religious non-profit organization established in 1993 to promote The New Message from God[11]. The Society, consisting of 10 members and several "core assistants", is led by Marshall Vian Summers, his wife and his son, who serve as teachers and spokespersons on behalf of the New Message.[11]

The Society's own publishing arm, the New Knowledge Library, supplies print and digital copies[12] of the content found on The New Message from God website, including translations into some of the 36 languages in which the New Message can be found.[19]

Dedicated followers identify as belonging to the Worldwide Community of the New Message and have platforms for meeting online[18].

Scriptures and practices

"The New Message from God" refers variously to the religious movement based on the teachings of Marshall Vian Summers, the content of those teachings, or the compilation of spoken audio recordings transcribed into one, multi-volume, single-author work, now estimated at over 9000 pages in length.[17][3]

The practices of The New Message are contained in the central text, Steps to Knowledge, which prescribes a daily routine of meditation and contemplation[1] with a focus on reconnecting the individual with their spiritual "Knowledge."

Beliefs

The New Message characterizes God as the creator and source of all physical and non-physical existence[20] and as "the experience of total relationship."[21]

"Knowledge" as capitalized in the New Message is a state of certainty found by cultivating inner stillness[22] as taught in the central manual of disciplines of the New Message, Steps to Knowledge.[23]

Proponents of The New Message from God insist that it is not affiliated with any specific religion and represents a distinct tradition[2] despite claims that a succession among prophets in the line including Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad now includes this prophet of the New Message.[24]

The New Message from God proposes that humanity is destined to interact with extraterrestrial races, and that this interaction has already been initiated by races that are currently visiting Earth.[25] In the New Message, first contact with extraterrestrial races bears comparison to the European colonization of the Americas,[26] except for the dire consequences of an overstressed environment now intensifying our vulnerability,[27] which the New Message predicts will result in sea level rise of "over a hundred feet" (about 30 meters) within the next 150 years, the flooding of coastal cities and a resulting mass displacement of people.[28]
